[INFO BEASISWA] PhD Positions in University of Pittsburgh 2014

Highly motivated candidates are sought for two PhD positions

 in the School of Information Sciences in University of Pittsburgh.

 The positions are in the areas of Data Privacy, Privacy-preserving 

Social Networks, Privacy-aware Cloud Computing and Big Data systems 

including Map Reduce/Hadoop and NoSQL databases.
Funding for these positions is expected to be in the form of research 

and/or teaching assistantships.


 Desired qualifications:

 - Preferably an MS in CS or related areas.
 - Strong programming skills
 - Strong mathematical background
 - An impressive academic record and/or substantial prior research experience.
 - Experience/interest on one or more of the following areas
         -Data Privacy
         -Privacy-preserving online social networks
         -Cloud Resource allocation, cost-optimized resource provisioning and management techniques
         -Big Data systems such as Map Reduce/Hadoop, NoSQL databases
         -Large scale Distributed and Networked Systems including geographically distributed systems


The PhD students selected 

will work as part of LERSAIS (http://www.sis.pitt.edu/~lersais/) 

which is a NSA designated Academic Center of Information Assurance

 Education and Research (CAE-R).
